A League of Football Teams lineup 2026 season outlook · the bubble

Five teams, one playoff seat

The middle eight ALOFT rosters sit inside 55 projected points for a whole season — about four a game, inside one week's noise — so the sixth seed is decided by FAAB and lineup discipline. This league's own 784 team-weeks say bottom-four teams start 0.74 tight ends a week against the top four's 0.25, and one bubble team kept two elite tight ends. Another added minus 3 to its starting six across ten live picks.

0.74tight ends started per week by this league's bottom-four teams, against 0.25 by the top four

Five teams are competing for what is realistically one playoff seat, and the draft did not separate them. The middle eight sit inside 55 projected points across fourteen weeks — roughly four points a game, which is inside a single week's noise. Two results are decided every week here, the head-to-head and a match against the league median, which makes 28 decisions in a fourteen-week season and means a punted lineup costs two of them, not one.

So the differentiators in this group are not talent. They are: which slots you left empty, which slots you filled twice, and whether your best players are available on Sunday.

Man Without Fear — the cleanest draft in the league, sixth-best roster

VERIFIED: 1690 corrected. He kept nobody, walked in with an intact first-round pick, and took the market's number one, four, eight and three at picks 3, 17, 31 and 45 — Jeanty, DeVonta Smith, Etienne, Jeremiyah Love. On process, it is an A-minus draft and the best pure drafting in the league.

It produced a bubble team, and that is the honest lesson about the keeper rule: fourteen live picks against a pool with 43 of the league's best players already removed is not the same object as fourteen picks.

Two hinges. First, one quarterback. Jaxson Dart at 405 with no backup, in a league where 28 quarterbacks are rostered across fourteen teams and only fourteen start — the replacement stream is genuinely thin. There is also a translation neither the Fantasy Footballers nor BDGE will do for him: BDGE's case for Dart is a rushing case, and this league pays six for a passing touchdown as well as six for a rushing one. The six-point bump lifts every pocket passer around Dart and gives him nothing. His edge is real and smaller here than the board says. INFERRED, mechanism stated.

Second, three of his four backs — Jeanty, Love, Hubbard — are Questionable, and Etienne sits in a starting flex at 199 projected against a market rank of 8, with BDGE at RB50 and the Ballers split — Jason faded him on Kellen Moore's bottom-five back target share, Andy bought him contrarian on the 13th.

Projected finish 2nd-12th. That is not a hedge, it is the widest honest interval in the league: two rookie-adjacent assets, one quarterback, and no keeper floor under any of it.

COACH PROFILE — Sonny Brill. Made his money flipping houses and has never lived in one for longer than a season. Kept nobody, on principle: "you don't fall in love with the drywall." Signature failure — refuses to name a backup quarterback, on the stated grounds that naming one is how you summon the injury.

TouchTheseDowns — right shape, two punted slots

VERIFIED: 1710 corrected, 273 skill VOR, four balanced keepers, four running backs, six receivers, zero tight ends. This is the roster shape this league's own history endorses: top-four finishers here started 2.29 running backs a week and went three deep 43% of the time.

The one hole is the one every outside board says does not matter. Kansas City's defence projects 92 and Evan McPherson 126 — the two weakest projections in his own starting eight, and both bottom-three in the league at their slots. Pooled across this league's two half-PPR seasons, started weeks only, the top-to-fourteenth spread is 4.9 ppg at defence and 3.9 at kicker — roughly 124 points across a season — about four a game at each of the two slots, nine across both — in a group separated by four. Started weeks only, which inflates it. Punting both slots is the entire margin.

The corpus likes his live draft: Chris Godwin at 96 — this league's round seven — is a buy: the Ballers have the doubt priced into an eighth-round ADP, so the bad news is free, and Blake Corum at 110 is a flag-plant that sets up a direct season-long referendum against the team that kept Kyren.

Projected finish 5th-9th, moderate-high confidence. The shape is right and the margin is two slots he can still fix for a dollar.

COACH PROFILE — Rusty Vandegrift. Career offensive coordinator who was promoted and never adjusted. Holds that special teams is "a rumour started by punters, for punters." Signature failure — has never once opened the kicker page, and when told what the defence scores for punt-return yards here, asked whether that was a joke the league office plays on new coaches.

Cunning Stunts — a system nobody asked for

VERIFIED, and this is the spine of the article: he kept Ja'Marr Chase, Brock Bowers and Trey McBride, then drafted a third tight end at 186. There is no tight end slot in this lineup. A tight end starts only by taking a receiver's seat, and across 784 team-weeks of this league's own history, bottom-four finishers started 0.74 tight ends a week against the top four's 0.25 — three times as many.

The projection starts two of his. That is not the model liking tight ends; it is the model having nothing else to put there, because he rosters three receivers total: Chase (Questionable), Rashid Shaheed and a 33-year-old Davante Adams. Fifteen tight ends are rostered across fourteen teams, which is the market pricing a no-tight-end-slot league correctly. He owns three of the 15.

The other half is worse. Tony Pollard is his RB1 at 150 projected, and the running back slot is mandatory every week — and Pollard is one of three backs the Ballers grouped as the dead-zone tax on 2026-08-15 — volume-only cost, "the most boring pick in fantasy." Zach Charbonnet is on PUP, with a nine-month ACL clock running to Thanksgiving; whether a PUP designation qualifies for this league's reserve slots, which take IR and COVID only, is UNKNOWN and worth ten minutes of somebody's time, because if it does not, that is a sixth of his bench.

What saves him is Houston at pick 102 — this league's measured best defence at 13.4 ppg with a floor of 12 across ten started weeks. Projected finish 5th-10th, moderate confidence.

COACH PROFILE — Lyman Prott. Invented a formation. Calls it the Triple Tight. Has run it since 2011 in leagues that do and do not have a place to put it. Signature failure — informed that this league has no tight end slot, he did not adjust the system; he filed a grievance.

I AM GROOT — the keepers are the team

VERIFIED: roughly 1702 corrected and eighth, on the median line in a league that takes six. The draft grade is a D-plus for a specific reason: ten live picks added −3 to the starting six, the only negative figure in the league, and the four keepers supplied 235 of a 232 starting-six VOR — the parts exceed the whole because the live picks were net negative. Everything else was a wash or worse.

Six running backs, five receivers, zero tight ends. Because a receiver-flex seat can hold only a receiver or tight end, the six backs cannot help there, and the startable receivers are Rashee Rice, Emeka Egbuka (Questionable) and Michael Pittman (Questionable). The specific week-one-to-week-fourteen risk is WR3 Questionable behind WR2 Questionable, with a 131-point rookie as the fourth option and no mechanism to convert running back surplus into a receiving seat except a trade.

This is the youngest roster in the league at 24.4, two full years below the 26.4 mean. Under a median match that is close to neutral for a team sitting on the line — variance helps a roster expected to finish outside the top seven and hurts one expected to finish inside it, and this one is expected to finish precisely on it.

Three of his four keepers are actively argued over. Achane draws a flag-plant at RB4 from Andy, an Ice from Jason, and a hard fade from BDGE on a Miami win total of 4.5. Only Egbuka is agreed.

Projected finish 6th-9th, low-to-moderate confidence, and the honest interval is wider than anyone else's here.

COACH PROFILE — Dwayne Fescue. Nine years managing a self-storage facility, which is visible in everything he does. Six running backs for three seats. Philosophy: acquisition. Signature failure — went into draft night without a kicker, spent pick 195 on a second quarterback who cannot start, and filled the kicker slot off waivers the next morning, describing the sequence as "sequencing."

Shut up Lige — seventh is real, and the running back slot is an emergency

VERIFIED: 1695 corrected, C-plus draft, 230 skill VOR of which the keepers are 206 and the live draft +24. Jaxon Smith-Njigba's 106 VOR is the third-largest single asset in this group, behind Jonathan Taylor and Ja'Marr Chase at 119 each — and the only one of the three whose owner has no second star.

The emergency is unambiguous. The running back slot is mandatory, and all four backs — Swift, Croskey-Merritt, Keaton Mitchell, Tracy — carry a Questionable tag. Six of his fourteen players do, the highest share in the league.

The dead weight is the other half. Jared Goff projects 411 points and sits behind Caleb Williams at 418 in a one-quarterback lineup — the largest dead asset in the league — with a second defence beside him. Two of six bench spots score nothing in a normal week. Goff is also the most sellable surplus anyone here owns: one contender starts the league's lowest-projected quarterback with no backup, and another has exactly one.

Sam LaPorta at 121 for +50 of slip is not the tight-end error people will call it. The rule against tight ends here is about picks 65 through 93, and he spent none of them there; LaPorta is a live flex body acquired at a price that does not hurt.

Projected finish 6th-10th, moderate confidence — bounded above by the running back room and below by JSN being genuinely elite.

COACH PROFILE — Otis Gullickson. Forty years a shift supervisor; believes, correctly and then incorrectly, in redundancy. Two quarterbacks, two defences, one kicker, four running backs. Signature failure — carries a backup at every position that cannot use one, and at the only position the lineup actually requires, all four men are listed Questionable, which he calls "a full rotation."
